This past Saturday night Active played host to a huge event where Kat Von D, Bam Margera, Mike Vallely, and Chad Muska came through and signed autographs. Aside from the signing the event was to launch the limited edition gold foil Element board that Kat Von D did the artwork for. After the signing, Mike V’s band Revolution Mother rocked out like none other. If you haven’t heard Mike’s band check them out! We will be posting up a video by tomorrow. For now check out the photos and check out Element’s photo coverage of the event!
Check out the photos from Jimmy Sweet and the Loved’s performance at ActiveBurbank. Also, we held a Deathwish Signing with Albert Madrid, Jim Greco and Erik Ellington after the performance. Thanks to the Deathwish guys!
Mark this date on your calendar: 11/22/2008 8:00PM (sat.)
And Mapquest™ this address: 541 E. 4th st Reno, NV -which is the new location of the Reno Bike Project.
Now, on that date, go to that location to see the new film from Leeward Cinema called “MY OWN TWO FEET”. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’ve seen some photos from their film trips and also have heard some crazy stories, which all are leading me to believe that this movie is amazing! The whole idea of the film is great. They went to a bunch of areas that you can’t access with a snowmobile, so that means you’re going to see all new spots that haven’t been played out by all the other films. I bet they’ll even have a little documentary feel to show the fun and camping, I hope.
I try to be more environmentally friendly. When ever I can, I ride my bike around town. Even though gas is a little cheaper, I still like to save some cash for my bar tabs.
Man, I can’t wait to see this film. I think the Reno Bike Project is a small place, so get there early.
Cruise out to the Santa Clarita park finale!! This tour has been the biggest and the best ever, so don’t miss this one. Also, this will be a celebration to mourn the passing of this community landmark, but don’t fret, the city plans on putting in a new one. Show up @ 4pm to join us for the wake! Don’t be and idiot and miss this one!!
Joe called me a while back and wanted to let us know that he was headed to Utah for the winter. I guess we will all have to travel to the Beehive state to go ride rails and Powder with Joe.
Transworld Snowboard Magazine just reposted a photo gallery on their website that I shot while with their film crew last spring in Keystone, CO. I was there to shoot photos of the crew; Robbie Walker, Tim Eddy, Nick Dirks, Chad Otterstrom, and Jonas Carlson. ”These Days” filmers Joe Carlino and Corey Koniniec were there also to get footage for the movie.
It was right after the resort had closed, so we had the place all to ourselves… so we thought. There was actually a ski film crew there also to film on the same set up. We had to get it all scheduled out and we got the shit time right in the morning, the riders barely got to even warm up. It was a dicey kicker too. Even though it was spring and after the resort closed, it had just snowed and the slope was super slow to get speed for the gap. They had to straight line from the very top of the hill just to get enough speed to be safe. The park crew even salted the snow to make it faster. So to say the least, it was sketchy looking. It also had a hip on the side of it, crazy looking thing. The jump was pretty big too, maybe 100′ with a 50′ gap in the middle. But sketchier than that was the angle I was about to shoot photos from… leaning out of a helicopter being held in by just a harness, and a loose one at that. It was pretty windy and the chopper was bouncing around all wildly. I have ridden in a heli a couple times prior, but never with the door off and me literally standing on the skid leaning out. I was pretty white knuckled most of the time. Anyways, the riders got some great shots for the mag and the movie.
Keep your fingers crossed, word around the campfire is that Mt. High might pull off a miracle and open this weekend! Let’s hope the cold temps stick around for the next couple days! check out mthigh.com for updates!
Amazing collection of art from some extraordinary individuals who have all played a major roll in the world of skateboarding. Most already know that Lance, Cab, and Hosoi have been HUGE innovators with tricks, but they also have a very creative eye for designing their own boards and graphics that still shape our urban empire culture today. I’ll have a some pieces up myself and I’ll have free gifts for the first 160 people! Just look for the guy in the most wackiest outfit and or costume. Bring your boards, cuz we’ll be filming a session through the streets of Pasadena at 11pm sharp! If your a baller, you may be able to walk away with some art for the right price. Boo Yaa!!
I just read on the internet that Jsak (Jesse Csincsak) got dumped from his Bachelorette TV show fiance (DeAnna Pappas) . That’s too bad. I hate getting dumped, especially by hot chicks. She was probably wooed by his professional status when he was on the show, then found out he was barely a legit am. Well, sounds like I need to dust off my old SC pro model and drop some knowledge on her. …nah, syke.
