STI, or the Sole Technology Institute, is the world's first and only biomechanics
research organization dedicated to the study of skateboarding and action sports.
Realizing that much of today's action sports footwear technology has been "borrowed"
from other sports due to lack of research, STI is focusing on learning more about the
impacts of skateboarding through scientific research and testing, as well as developing
and testing new technologies to capitalize on what our research teaches us. The research
we conduct will be used to promote longevity, reduce the risk of injury, and improve the
performance of skateboarders around the world.
STI's on-site biomechanics research laboratory houses only the most advanced
state-of-the-art biomechanics and physical testing equipment. At over 10,000 square feet,
the new STI Lab research facility is huge, featuring everyday skateboarding obstacles like handrails,
stairs and ledges to be use for biomechanics research. Active Mailorder is proud to offer shoes from Etnies, Emerica, and eS which have been tested and proven in the Sole Technology Institue. |
